Roane County Schools is Hiring!

Congratulations to Mrs. Kayla Rather on her appointment as Principal of Rockwood Middle School!
I'm so excited for the opportunity to be principal at Rockwood Middle School. I have worked at RMS for the last 9 years as a teacher and most recently as an assistant principal. I have loved this school and community since becoming a part of it, so I'm honored to be principal here. We have a great school with an awesome staff. I look forward to the growth and success that we will continue to have!

Congratulations to Mr. Aaron Jones on his appointment as Principal of Roane County High School!
"I am incredibly humbled and excited to be named the next principal of Roane County High School. RCHS has a rich tradition in academics, athletics, and the arts. I’m excited to get plugged in and continue to build upon that tradition. I have worked in education for 21 years. I spent 19 years in the Morgan County School system as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal. The last two years I have had the opportunity to work with high school students across East Tennessee in my role as the Middle College Director at Roane State Community College. Over the next few weeks and months, I look forward to meeting the faculty, staff, students, and community stakeholders of Roane County High School. The 2024-2025 school year is going to be the best one yet! I’m excited to be part of the Kingston Family!
Go Jackets!"

Congratulations to Dr. Scotty Herrell on being named Rockwood High School Principal!
"Rockwood High School has deep community roots and a rich history. I am happy to be a part of that tradition. Over the last 15 years I have been able to serve in various administrative roles to prepare me for this opportunity. I will serve the students and support the faculty and staff to see that our students can achieve the highest levels of success both inside the classroom and in extracurricular activities. I am excited to meet the faculty, staff, students, and stakeholders and build relationships of trust over the coming years."

Coordinated School Health partnered with the Roane County Health Department to exhibit the first Teen Life Maze in Tennessee at Harriman High School on May 3, 2024!
Health educator Ms. Matilyn Lands provided a detailed plan to increase knowledge and motivate our youth to make positive health choices. Principal Ms. Chasity Lowery graciously accepted this program, anticipating the benefits for her students. The Teen Life Maze consists of 10 interactive tables where students rotate and learn about various health topics for 10 minutes each.
Stations included:
Vaping/Tobacco Education
Physical Activity
Health Department Services
Nutrition
Healthy Relationships
Hygiene
Distracted Driving
Human Trafficking/Social Media
Mental Health (Stress Coping Skills)
Financial Goal Setting
A huge thanks to our volunteers and a special shout out to Matilyn Lands for her hard work and dedication in making Roane County "Shine" with the rollout of this fantastic program. Events like these provide crucial information and foster community support for students' well-being. Here's to many more successful Teen Life Maze events in Roane County Schools!
