📊 October Attendance Challenge Results – Strive for 95%!
October’s challenge is in the books! While no school reached the 95% goal, several schools achieved attendance at or above 90%. Great job! 👏
Now, it’s time for “No Skip November”! 🍂 The focus this month is on reducing unexcused absences. We’ll be recognizing the schools that show the biggest decrease in unexcused absences from October. Let’s keep the momentum going! 💪

Students from Larry Green’s class at Oliver Springs Academy built a brand-new storage building for the Roane County Schools Family Resource Center!

🔬💡 Closing Out Nuclear Career Week in Roane County! 💡🔬
Our students had incredible opportunities this week to explore the world of nuclear science and energy!
Seniors from all five high schools attended the Nuclear Science Career Fair, where they connected with representatives from nuclear industries, postsecondary programs, and skilled trades. Students learned about the abundance of high-demand career paths available right here in Roane County!
Meanwhile, Bowers Elementary 5th graders enjoyed an exciting trip to the Atomic Education Summit, hosted by the American Museum of Science and Energy Foundation, where they experienced hands-on activities that brought science and innovation to life.

October Board Meeting Highlights for Roane County Schools
Students from Bowers Elementary proudly led the Pledge of Allegiance to open the meeting.
We also welcomed our new Student Board Member, Kolton Mullins! Kolton was selected by his classmates at Harriman High School and is a valued member of the senior class. He is a dedicated cheerleader and student ambassador who has already received a college offer to continue cheering at the next level. Kolton aspires to become an educator and often volunteers at BES to gain valuable classroom experience. He is enrolled in multiple dual enrollment courses, demonstrating his strong commitment to academic excellence. Kolton consistently serves as a positive role model and an outstanding example for his peers.
Additionally, Chief Deputy Tim Phillips presented the new Roane County Sheriff’s Department App, which will provide countywide information and include listings of the School Resource Officers (SROs) at each school within our district.
