Roane County Schools is proud to recognize and celebrate our School Resource Officers (SROs) in honor of National School Resource Officer (SRO) Appreciation Day, celebrated annually on February 15.

This day honors the dedicated law enforcement officers who serve in our schools keeping students and staff safe building strong relationships and supporting our school communities each day. Our SROs are mentors role models and trusted partners who make a lasting impact on our students.

Thank you to our School Resource Officers for your commitment service and care for the students of Roane County Schools. We appreciate all you do!

While students were enjoying a day off, our elementary school teachers and staff were touring nuclear industry partners across Oak Ridge to explore how they can help prepare students for future careers in the nuclear field. Roane County Schools is proud to offer this experience to teachers at all grade levels across our district as we invest in preparing the future workforce right here in Roane County.

We extend our sincere thanks to TRISO-X and ORAU for generously sponsoring lunch for our teachers and supporting this valuable professional learning opportunity.

Roane County Schools (TN), will be closed Thursday, February 5, 2026, due to a forecast of black ice forming overnight.

Officials will continue to monitor weather conditions and road safety and will reassess as the week progresses. Any additional closures or schedule changes will be communicated through our usual channels.

Our principals met with the Academic Team to look closely at school data and talk about how students are doing. Together, they discussed what’s working well and where additional support may be needed. This time was used to create clear plans to help better meet student needs and to ensure every child has the support they need to succeed. We are grateful for the teamwork and dedication of our school leaders as they continue working to support teachers, students, and families.

A big thank you to the Midtown Elementary School students who led the Pledge of Allegiance: Rexha Branson, Jaxon Snow, Wendie Kinser, Nick Raby, Theo Raby, and Titus Anderson. The board also proudly recognized the CMS Football and CMS Volleyball teams. We are proud of both teams for their hard work, dedication, and teamwork throughout the season.
