Roane County Schools is pleased to announce the interim Principal and Vice Principal of Bowers Elementary School for the Spring Semester 23-24 School year: Mrs. Alisha Thompson and Mrs. Julie Parham. Congratulations ladies! Please see a special message form each of these amazing educators: From Alisha Thompson - Being in my 4th year at Bowers Elementary as an administrator, I have seen and experienced the heart of Harriman in the schools and out in the community. I am blessed to be a small part of the continued growth of Harriman and its most valued asset, the children. In the coming semester, we will remain steadfast in our commitment to educate, guide and love students. As an educator for more than 20 years, I believe one of the greatest forms of love is to provide and support a top notch education that will serve students for years to come. I am looking forward to continuing this ever so important work in the coming semester. From Julie Parham - My name is Julie Parham, and it is with great honor and pride that I have accepted the Interim Assistant Principal position at Bowers Elementary for the spring semester. I graduated from Harriman High school, and I am committed to this community. I have been an educator for 11 years, and along with the lessons learned throughout life, I know it takes a team effort to ensure our students receive the best education and support possible. Bowers Elementary is a wonderful school, and I look forward to working alongside the devoted educators, caring staff, supportive families, and the community that I have always called home.

Congratulations to OSHS Environmental Science students Jailyn Phillips and Arianna Mckenzie, who are in the 11th & 10th grades, who competed and placed 2nd in Inventanooga! - You may be asking yourself, What in the world is Inventanooga? It is the result of a semester-long project, where students identify a real-world problem and pitch their original solution. The project follows the stages of the design process: Empathy, Ideate, Define, Prototype, Test, & Pitch. There are three project categories - Ideator, Designer, Executive - with scaffolding criteria. This project is student-driven, wherein students develop this project from ground zero - identifying their real-world problem - to completion - the Inventanooga pitch. You can find out more about this unique opportunity here - https://sites.google.com/hcde.org/inventanooga/home?authuser=0.
