RCS Coordinated School Health would like to thank Coach Baron Tapp and the Harriman Middle School Baseball Team for partnering with Roane County Health Department's tobacco free pledge to be a "NICOTINE FREE TEAM". This team hopes that more sports teams will follow their lead! The HMS baseball team's leadership makes their principal, Ms. Leslie Smith, very proud to be a Blue Devil.

Important Summer BASP Announcement

Roane County Schools CTE and Roane Alliance hosted another fantastic Career Fair for all 8th grade and 11th grade students across the district. Students were able to meet with over 60 representatives from a variety of industries, post secondary institutions, military branches, and training programs. Additionally, 12th grade students had the opportunity to apply for apprenticeship positions after graduation. We want to thank all our partners and those who made this day possible!

We want to congratulate these 2024 Roane County Schools graduates on their completion of the East TN Apprentice Readiness Program (ETARP)! Hayden Taylor, Lathan Graham, and Landis Witherspoon are all prepared to take on the workforce and have been placed in apprenticeship jobs. ETARP will be at our countywide career fair on Tuesday, April 1st to help students apply for the next class!

RCS Coordinated School Health will be sharing a series of "Spotlight on PE" articles across the school district. We would like to recognize our PE teachers and their dedication to making a positive impact on student outcomes. Students who are physically active tend to have better grades, school attendance, cognitive performance, and classroom behaviors. RCS Coordinated School Health would like to recognize Coach Tony Kegley and the PE program at Oliver Springs High School.

📚✨ March is National Reading Month! ✨📚
Did you know? 🤔
📖 Reading for just 20 minutes a day exposes students to 1.8 million words a year!
📚 Children who read at home often perform better in school and develop stronger critical thinking skills.
📕 Listening to audiobooks also counts as reading—it helps improve vocabulary and comprehension!
📘 Reading reduces stress and strengthens brain connections, improving memory and focus.
Encourage your child to pick up a book today and celebrate the joy of reading! 📖💡 #NationalReadingMonth #ReadEveryDay

Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten Round Up for the 2025-2026 school year is just around the corner! Mark your calendars now!
