Closing the Skills Gap: Building a Stronger Workforce! Did you know? More people are leaving the trades workforce than entering, creating a significant shortage across all trades in Tennessee. But here's the good news: Tennessee officials are taking action to change these statistics! Be Pro Be Proud TN, an initiative led by the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce, is partnering with industry leaders to bring awareness and opportunities to students. This week, the initiative's mobile workshop visited Rockwood High School and Rockwood Middle School, offering students firsthand experience and insight into the world of skilled trades. Be Pro Be Proud TN’s mobile workshop has already made a significant impact, visiting over two dozen middle and high schools since its launch. Let's continue to support initiatives like these to bridge the skills gap and build a stronger, more vibrant workforce for Tennessee's future! #BeProBeProudTN #SkillsGap #WorkforceDevelopment #BuildingTheFuture#CTE

Celebrating our student leaders! Roane County students recently participated in the TSBA SCOPE conference, where 9th-12th graders from across Tennessee converged to tackle pressing education issues. Through mock school board meetings, group discussions, and debates, they gained valuable insight into the workings of school boards and explored solutions to real-world challenges. Last night, the Roane County School Board honored these outstanding students from our 5 high schools at our monthly board meeting.

Celebrating a legacy of civic engagement! In 1920, Tennessee's pivotal vote ratified the 19th Amendment, granting American women the right to vote. Today, we honor the legacy of trailblazers like Anne Dallas Dudley, whose tireless efforts secured this fundamental right. Last fall, our US History and Government teacher, Mrs. Deb Stout, spearheaded a voter registration drive at Harriman High School, empowering our students to become active participants in our democracy. We're thrilled to announce that Harriman High School has been awarded the prestigious Anne Dallas Dudley Gold Award for registering 100% of our eligible seniors to vote! At a special assembly, attended by students, faculty, and esteemed guests, including Senator Ken Yager and representatives from the Tennessee Secretary of State's office, our students shared stories of their first voting experiences—an inspiring testament to the enduring strength of our democracy. Congratulations to our students, faculty, and community partners for their dedication to civic engagement! Together, we're shaping a brighter future for all.
