Roane County Schools has officially been designated an Advancing District for the 2024–25 school year by the Tennessee Department of Education. This recognition highlights strong performance, steady growth, and the collective dedication of students, educators, staff, and families across the district.
Each year, the state evaluates school districts across a five-level accountability system: Exemplary, Advancing, Satisfactory, Marginal, and In Need of Improvement. Earning the Advancing designation places Roane County Schools among the top-performing districts in Tennessee, representing one of the highest distinctions awarded by the state. This achievement reflects strong progress in student achievement, academic growth, attendance, English learner progress, and graduation outcomes, and demonstrates the district’s commitment to excellence in every school.
"Being named an Advancing District highlights the hard work taking place across our district,” said Russell Jenkins, Director of Roane County Schools. “Our committed educators, focused students, and supportive families and community made this achievement possible."
The Advancing District designation reaffirms Roane County Schools’ ongoing commitment to providing high-quality education and preparing students for success beyond the classroom.
Thank you to our incredible Roane County community for supporting our mission and helping us reach this milestone. Together, we’re moving forward, aiming higher, and preparing for even greater accomplishments.
