Happy Fall!
We have a lot to celebrate in the Roane County School System.
Congratulations to the following Reward Schools:
Cherokee Middle School
Bowers Elementary School
Kingston Elementary School
Midtown Elementary School
Midway Elementary School
Oliver Springs High School
These schools have demonstrated high levels of growth and achievement for all students and student sub-groups.  Way to go!
Also to note, Oliver Springs High joins Midway Elementary as a STEM School and was one of only 11 schools designated as a STEM School this year.  STEM Designation Schools provide students with the knowledge and skills to be successful in high-demand STEM careers. Each school was evaluated through a rigorous application process. Schools were asked to complete a self-evaluation, participate in interviews, and host site visits with the Tennessee STEM Designation review team. The designation rubric included five focus areas: infrastructure, curriculum and instruction, professional development, achievement, and community and post-secondary partnerships. Congratulations, OSHS!
As I have made my way around Roane County and visited with school personnel, it is evident why Roane County Schools have achieved a Level 5 designation (highest possible) for growth.  I see caring, dedicated educators going above and beyond for every child and for that I am grateful to be part of the Roane County team.
