In a response to rising numbers, specifically at middle and high school levels, we are transitioning from Phase One to Phase Two of our COVID contact tracing. Beginning Monday, August 30, 2021, Roane County Schools will add "close contacts" to our COVID contact tracing procedures. A close contact is considered someone who has been within three feet of a positive case for at least 15 minutes. Individuals identified as a close contact will be asked to quarantine for 10 days; in compliance with quarantine guidelines, individuals on quarantine may not attend school or any school-related function (athletics, band, clubs, etc.). If BOTH parties (positive and exposed) are wearing masks, the exposed will NOT need to quarantine. To help reduce the amount of time students are out of school and away from instruction, we are highly encouraging students and staff to wear masks and physically distance themselves when possible.
