Roane County School District

Preschool Program Receives Grant

The Roane County Preschool Program would like to recognize the East Tennessee Foundation for their generous contribution to our classroom. Our classroom applied for the CNS Y-12 Community Investment Grant this past fall, and we are excited to announce we were awarded a $5,000 grant to upgrade our sensory room.

This grant will be used to assist us in helping children address sensory concerns in a safe and stimulating environment.  Sensory rooms help teach children with behavioral health challenges to regulate their bodies in a way that allows them to achieve success in the classroom. Our goal for the sensory room will be to provide students with the resources necessary to learn how to regulate their own behaviors, the positive impacts of which can be felt in the classroom, at home, and out in the community.

We extend our gratitude to the East Tennessee Foundation for their continued support of early childhood education funding through the CNS Y-12 Community Investment Fund grant making activity. Please visit their website www.easttennesseefoundation.org for more opportunities and
information on this amazing foundation.
